The conclussion of the project was the Proof of Concept trailer that brought those new characters to life. We would like to clarify that our team does not own these characters and we do not know what comes next for them after the this Proof of Concept. This was the first character that I worked on during my time on Small Soldiers. The initial blockout of the face and chest area was done by Xabier Urrutia while the final color adjustments were made by Julen Urrutia, who was responsible for the Space Elite team. It was a blast working on such a cool design that merged both mechanical pieces as well as organic parts all in a toy-like aesthetic. I've always been a fan of cyborgos since my childhood so it was almost surreal to be making my dream toy in 3D. It proved more tricky than expected to really achieve the toy-like feel, especially when balancing the level and quality of certain details. The procedural materials developed by Xabier Urrutia really allowed us to push the level of realism of these figures.
