Here you can see how well the material reads the mesh and applies the various layers of dust. The geometry dust helps to blend everything seamlessly.

[DISCLAIMER: Small Soldiers War for the Nekron is a Proof of Concept project in which our team was hired by Comadran Studios to create a set of toy characters during some months from 2022-2023. The conclussion of the project was the Proof of Concept trailer that brought those new characters to life. We would like to clarify that our team does not own these characters and we do not know what comes next for them after the this Proof of Concept. Designs and story might not represent the final product as they are subject to change during production.]

Here is a collection of all the toys that I worked on while the team was working on the background assets for the scene. It was a super fun experience because thanks to our setup we could import a raw sculpt from Zbrush with vertex color and then the material would handle the shading procedurally. This process worked as well for the plushies that we created. To speed up the process we had a word generator that would pick random words from 2 lists and then based on the outcome we could use that as inspiration to create a toy in the style that we liked.
